NOTICE OF ONE YEAR FILING DEADLINE FOR ASYLUM APPLICATIONS

On November 4, 2020, the Department of Homeland Security issued a notice explaining that due to the “Mendez Rojas” agreement, individuals who were not notified of the one-year period to file their asylum applications after their arrival in the United States may file their applications until April 22, 2022. This is a great opportunity for people who already exceeded this deadline, since due to negligence of the authorities they were not informed of this deadline and people were not able to file their asylum applications in time.
