Reuniting more than 600 migrant children with their parents.
Experts believe that United States President Joe Biden’s administration will appoint Michelle Brane as the Executive Director of a task force whose mission is to reunite migrant families that were separated from each other under Donald Trump’s “zero tolerance” migrant family separation policy. Michelle Brane is currently the director of the Women’s Refugee Commission, which is a nonprofit organization that “improves the lives and protects the rights of women, children and youth displaced by conflict and crisis.” The Deputy Director of the American Civil Liberties Union Immigrants’ Rights Project and the President of the Kids in Need of Defense Project both say that Brane is a good choice for the role due to her expertise on the subject of protection of children and families displaced by violence and persecution in Central America.
